Education
I believe that we can turn our state into a new Garden of Eden, where prosperity is the norm and peace and harmony prevail. With your help, we can get it done faster with less cost than anyone thinks possible! I have a comprehensive plan to do it. It is specific, realistic, measurable, and achievable!
The cornerstone of my plan for prosperity in Nevada is based on one key factor: We have to build our economy and institutions, so, money will flow into our state instead of out.
A key component of my plan for prosperity is education. As a long time, applied educator, I would maintain that for our state to prosper and succeed, we need to have the very best educational system possible. Namely, an education based on hands-on training, competitive advantage, and 21st-century globalization requirements. By this, I mean, the educational system in Nevada needs to be world-class, from kindergarten to graduate school.
We need to demand the best performances from administrators, faculty, support employees, and students, by providing our educational professionals and students with updated facilities, the latest technologies, and development opportunities. For anyone, young or old, a world-class education provides them with the knowledge, tools, techniques, and ideas which can enhance their own prosperity and Nevada’s.
As a citizen and as a governor, I want everyone in Nevada to prosper. And, education is one of the main roads to prosperity. In our globalized world, a competitive educational advantage is a necessity for success. But quality education does much more than just help students. It positively impacts the community of citizens to innovate, promote economic growth, and enhanced social development. Clearly, it provides opportunities in the form of careers, businesses, jobs, and creative endeavors. A quality education brings students from around the world to the community.
Business owners can get high quality skilled workers and they will be more likely to move their business operations to Nevada. More students bring with them funds to use for tuition, living expenses, and the purchase of goods and services. In addition, since Nevada is a tourist destination, their parents and other relatives now have another reason to come to Nevada. Hence, we will have more income and growth maximization.
Increasing our educational standards breeds prosperity for everyone through research, the acquisition of skills, and application of knowledge. Quality education improves the flow of money within the state and brings in new money. We need a world-class education system. As your governor, I shall create it. Here is how I propose we get and build a world-class system.
The key is to fund education on a per school basis and not on a per pupil basis. Therefore, creating an educational climate that competes for quality not quantity.

Lot of nice words … sounds nice … but where’s the plan? How exactly are you going to fund it? If we can build the economy, money will flow in? Education and Economy go hand in hand … businesses aren’t going to relocate here and ask their employees to bring their families to a state ranked as low as NV in just about every educational ratings category … therefore you can’t expand the economy which means you can’t improve education which means you can’t expand the economy. It’s circular logic that just doesn’t get us there.
